Libertarian: Gays should vote for me

The Libertarian Presidential candidate told the gayzette  members of the GLBT community should vote for him to be the next president because he’s the only candidate that will allow gay marriage to proceed without a fight from The White House.

Bob Barr, a former Republican who authored the original Defense of Marriage Act in 1996 for President Bill Clinton, said he’s learned from his mistakes and has embraced the Libertarian way of life. While he personally is not a “proponent” for gay marriage, he said as President he would allow it because he doesn’t see it as a threat to himself, society or the nation.

“The two candidates (Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama) can not be too attractive to gays and lesbians,” Barr said Sunday at a Littleton fund raiser. “(Gay marriage) is not going to ruin the country.”
